Accessibility at Everett Library

A guide to Everett Library's accessible services, collections, and spaces

Welcome to Everett Library!

The Everett Library at Queens University of Charlotte is committed to providing an accessible and inclusive experience for all users of the library. We offer a variety of support services to facilitate physical and virtual access to library services, collections, and spaces. Staff will make every effort to accommodate accessibility requests.

Please contact Travis Hyzak at or 704-337-2502 with any questions, comments, or concerns.

Parking & Location

There are several places around campus with accessible parking spaces. The closest parking to the library is at Evans Clock Tower Circle, off of Radcliffe Avenue.

The Everett Library is located in the center of campus between Wireman Residence Hall and Watkins Hall, in the same building as the coffee shop. Contact the Information Desk by email at or by phone at 704-337-2401 for assistance in locating the library.

Our entrance is accessible with automatic sliding doors. The tightest space is between the security gates, which is 35 inches wide.

Building Features

Restrooms are located on the second floor and in the basement. Accessible restrooms are located in the coffee house next door. Coffee house hours are available on the Queens Dining website. Note they do not match library hours.

Please reach out to Travis Hyzak if you find our furniture is not accessible or if you need to know more about our spaces.

The elevator is located on the north side of the building, past the information desk and meeting room to the right of the front doors. It accommodates a maximum of two people.

Books & Articles

Electronic Resources

We make every effort to ensure that all licensed electronic resources are accessible to you, but if you discover that content within an electronic resource is not accessible, please report this to Sherrill Shiraz at or by phone at 704-337-2470. We will notify the vendor and report the issue.

Item Retrieval

If you are unable to physically access an item, please ask a staff member at the Information Desk on the main floor to retrieve the item for you. We also offer a hold service to faculty, staff, and students. You can request items through the online library catalog to be held for pickup at the library.

Interlibrary Loan

If you need materials in large print or other accessible formats, we will try to obtain them for you from another library through the Interlibrary Loan service. We rely on the libraries we borrow from for these materials.

Proxy Borrowing

We are currently developing a policy on proxy borrowing.

Research Assistance & Classes

Individual Research Help

Librarians are available to help you with your research and assist you with other library services, including finding materials in accessible formats. For research help, contact us!

Library Instruction in the Classroom

All librarians teach library and information literacy skills in a variety of classes. If you know that your class is going to receive library instruction and you need accommodations to make it more successful, please contact your professor, who can notify the librarian. We will do our best to accommodate your needs.

Library Software & Equipment

We lend laptops and webcams to members of the Queens community.

For instructions on how to print in the library, please check out our FAQ

Quiet Spaces

The Library has an ultra quiet study room on the second floor. Study rooms are also available, which you can reserve in advance

In Case of Emergency

If you need to exit the building, there are two emergency exits in the basement, in addition to the front doors on the main floor.

Service Animals

Service animals are allowed in the library. Staff are allowed to ask:

  • Is the dog a service animal required because of a disability?
  • What work or task has the dog been trained to perform?

However, due to the fact that Emotional Support Animals (ESA) are not Service Animals, they are only permitted within residence housing, per campus policies and procedures.
