A word from FOL President Sherard Anne Gates

Dear Friends,

I hope this note finds you and your family well and that you share in the hope that we find ourselves emerging – or at least beginning to emerge -- from what has sometimes felt like a truly altered state of existence. What strange years 2020 and 2021 have been so far!

As we enter the new school year, we find ourselves getting back to normal around Queens.  We are planning our Kick-Off Reception and eagerly anticipating our Shortbread Sale and Holiday Books & Coffee.

Out of an abundance of caution and because we are adapting to Covid safety protocols, we will continue to have some meetings and/or events either completely virtual or possibly with a virtual option in the event that someone prefers to “attend” that way.  But we HAVE set dates for this year’s events and have them listed below.  Make sure to follow FOL on our social media platforms Instagram and Facebook.

We had many successful and well-attended author presentations during our “virtual year” and the recorded talks are available in the “events” section of our website.  We will continue to update with any future talks that are captured or recorded as well.

We are beginning a new membership campaign and hope that all of our loyal members will rejoin for the new year and possibly even consider joining at a higher level of commitment. Exciting plans are underway to celebrate our 50+ years of FOL – we hope to see you at ALL of these fun events.

So CHEERS to the 2021-2022 year of Friends!
