Public Policy Institutes

A public policy institute, also referred to as a "think tank," is an institute, corporation, or group organized specifically to conduct interdisciplinary research. Public Policy Institutes are typically formed to research issues of policy and governmental concern and often to promote a specific set of values or point of view. While all public policy institutes claim to be objective, most will have a partisan bent and you should pay specific attention to the wording and language that each Institute uses about its mission in order to determine its underlying beliefs.

American Society/Council of the Americas
Dedicated to education, debate, and dialogue in the Americas. Its mission is to foster an understanding of the contemporary political, social, and economic issues confronting Latin America, the Caribbean, and Canada, and to increase public awareness and appreciation of the diverse cultural heritage of the Americas and the importance of the inter-American relationship.
Brookings Institute, Latin America Initiative
The Latin America Initiative comprises the efforts of Brookings scholars working on the region’s economies and polities, with a focus on the quality of democracy, stability and sustainability of macroeconomic growth.
